City Pages (Twin Cities), Philadelphia City Paper Win First-Place AFJ Awards

Several AAN members were among the winners of the 2013 Association of Food Journalists (AFJ) awards.

City Pages (Twin Cities) won Best Story on Food Policy or Food Issues for “Milk Money” by Andy Mannix and Mike Mullen, who explained how dairy cooperatives raise the price of milk through the practice of herd retirement.

Philadelphia City Paper‘s Drew Lazor took first place in the Best Newspaper Food Feature
category for “Acts of Will,” a profile of chef Chris Kearse.

Also among the winners were:

Katharine Shilcutt, Houston Press (3rd Place Food Feature)

Tejal Rao of the Village Voice (2nd Place Restaurant Criticism)

Ian Froeb, Riverfront Times (3rd Place Restaurant Criticism)

Hanna Raskin and Dan Person, Seattle Weekly (3rd Place Food Column)

Hanna Raskin, Seattle Weekly (2nd Place Story on Food Policy or Food Issues)

D.L. Anderson and Victoria Bouloubasis, Indy Week (3rd Place Multimedia Presentation)

Phoenix New Times (3rd Place Food Blog)
