Metro Times Announces 2009 Blowout Bands

Eve Doster Knepp of Norwegian Blue PR and Metro Times Detroit finished selecting the Blowout 12 bands with 200 local artists performing at 15 different Hamtramck venues from March 4-7 2009. The festival will feature all different kinds of local music showcases with new and returning artists that will bring thousands of Detroiters together for a great time.

Some of the bands returning to Blowout this year include The Dirtbombs, Deastro, The Silent Years, Zoos of Berlin, Timmy’s Organism (Human Eye), Fred Thomas of Saturday Looks Good to Me, Sex Ghost!, Bluesong and Doop & the Inside Outlaws. Making their debut at Blowout 12 are Beverly Fre$h, indie artist Matt Jones and the psychedelic Alan Scheurman.

The Majestic Detroit will host the official Blowout pre-party on March 4 where festival goers can pick up their pre-purchased wristbands or purchase their weekend wristbands. The pre-party will feature Silverghost, The Octopus, Child Bite and Electric Fire Babies performing in the Magic Stick, punk legends The Meatmen and The Wrong Numbers (former members of The Sights) will be playing in the Majestic. Blowout officially kicks off at 15 different locations in Hamtramck on Thursday and runs through Saturday, March 7. Wristbands can be purchased beforehand at ticketweb.com or all weekend long at the Knights of Columbus. There will be free shuttle service to and from all venues for all attendees.
