Vodka Yonic Wins AAN Award for Best Column, Enters Syndication

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — SouthComm, Inc.’s Nashville Scene is currently syndicating its weekly women’s column Vodka Yonic to markets across the U.S. Vodka Yonic was awarded Best Column (under 50,000 circulation) by the Association of Alternative Newsmedia (AAN) at their annual conference in July.

Vodka Yonic, which the Scene launched in March 2013, features a rotating cast of female contributors from around the world. The column is sharp, informed, alternately humorous and poignant, and continually challenges the very idea of what a women’s column is.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by the AAN,” says Vodka Yonic editor Abby White. “I’m continually impressed with the daring and diverse topics our writers bring to the table. Anything is fair game, from atheism to current events to runaway Ben Wa balls.”

Vodka Yonic, which runs in the Nashville Scene and Creative Loafing Charlotte, is accepting new contributors as it increases its imprint in multiple markets. Interested publications should reach out to Scene publisher Mike Smith (msmith@southcomm.com) and writers may contact Yonic editor Abby White (awhite@southcomm.com) for submission guidelines.
