Tucson Weekly Offers Readers a Chance to Seek Presidency

Presenting the first-ever Tucson Weekly presidential campaign contest!

Source: Tucson Weekly Press Release

Have you ever thought of running for president? The Tucson Weekly is ready to help you make your dream come true.

Tucson Weekly is sponsoring Project White House, the paper's first-ever presidential-primary contest.

After discovering the only thing a candidate has to do is fill out a notarized nomination form to get on Arizona's Feb. 5 presidential-primary ballot, Tucson Weekly senior writer Jim Nintzel decided to offer readers a chance to seek the presidency.

The grand prize for the best candidate is the Weekly's coveted endorsement and campaign coverage during the month of January.

As part of Project White House -- an experiment in Reality Journalism -- readers have been invited to send their campaign materials via mail or email to Project White House.

If Project White House officials determine the candidates are newsworthy, we'll give their campaigns some ink. Even if Project White House determines candidates are not particularly newsworthy, the paper may still help them get on the ballot by notarizing their nomination forms at no cost.

The contest is open to any U.S. citizen born in the United States older than 35 who has lived in the United States for the last 14 years.

Full details are available in the Nov. 22 issue of the Tucson Weekly at www.tucsonweekly.com.

For more information contact Jim Nintzel at 520-490-9742 or e-mail ProjectWhiteHouse (at) tucsonweekly.com.
