A site that aggregates things has created a photo gallery of what it deems the “Meanest Book Reviews Ever,” and the work of two outstanding alt-weekly writers made the list.
Susan Cohen of Charleston City Paper was honored for calling The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, “easily one of the worst books I’ve ever read.”
Meanwhile, Harry Siegel of the New York Press is recognized for his review of Jonathan Safran Foer’s Everything Is Illuminated, in which he writes:
Having “read” Foer’s latest if that’s what one does to this cut-and-paste assemblage of words, pictures, blank pages and pages where the text runs together and becomes illegible it’s time for bad form.
Foer isn’t just a bad author, he’s a vile one.
The unidentified author who curated the list says, “the words in these hateful reviews are less letters on a page and more the transcript of a critic’s frenzied ravings.”
