Village Voice Media announced today it is selling the Nashville Scene and Nfocus magazine to Southcomm, Inc., a Nashville-based media company. The deal is expected to close on Friday, August 21. Terms of the transaction are not being divulged.
VVM has owned and operated the Scene since 2006, doing business in Nashville as City Press, LLC.
VVM is the nation’s largest publisher of alternative newsweeklies, with websites and print publications in fourteen major American markets including New York, Los Angeles, Denver and San Francisco. It also owns the Ruxton Group, which sells national advertising for alternative publications covering 44 of the country’s most vibrant markets.
