Innocent college students in Northern California are among the victims of a recent Monterey County Weekly Student Guide that recklessly exposed them to advertisements for sexy undergarments, the legal purchase of cannabis as approved by voters, and information on a local custom called “happy hour.”
While many of the victims were probably too devastated to speak out, two local leaders were brave enough to take a stand on local television.
In response, publisher Erik Cushman had the temerity to suggest that offended readers exercise their free will by not patronizing such establishments:
“Don’t go buying it. If they don’t like the ads for the sexy underwear, don’t buy sexy underwear. These are all businesses trying to reach an audience in Monterey County.”
