Despite weak economic conditions, Orlando Weekly has launched a new nightlife magazine and has seen success.

Drink has been published quarterly since 2005 and previously included a wide list of Central Florida bars with quick reviews and short calendar of events. The Weekly re-launched the magazine in March as a monthly, allowing for current content and expansive weeknight calendar. It’s desired demographic includes anyone in their 20’s or early 30’s.

The second monthly edition of Drink launched April 1, with an accompanying release party on April 3 at Ember, located at 42 West Central Blvd. in downtown Orlando. The party, which is open to any and all guests, will begin at 7 p.m. and includes drink specials and complimentary hors d’oeuvres until 9 p.m.

Featured in the upcoming issue is a story about “wing women,” an unexpected partner approach for men to meet women. Also included are reviews of Odin’s Den, Sip and Dungeon Lounge, and more.

Readers can expect more bar reviews and further online content at the magazine’s website, www.drinkorlando.com. The website, expected to launch within the first week of April, will include a searchable database of Orlando hotspots and daily events, and a photo section titled “Shots” updated weekly with photos of Drink readers out at bars. Drink can also be found on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter.
