Biography
Founded in 1984, the Tucson Weekly has become an iconoclastic institution in this sprawling desert boom town with a population approaching 1 million. With its reputation for diverse, compelling journalism with an edge, the paper has built a readership of nearly 200,000 Tucsonans who rely on the Weekly for its insightful cultural coverage, provocative analyses of local politics and the development industry, and offbeat feature writing and profiles.
Content also includes the usual complement of comprehensive arts and entertainment listings, and informed calendar, music, books, restaurant and film sections. Its annual Best of Tucson™ issue is one of the largest compilations of its kind, and the paper is the founder of the Tucson Area Music Awards and Club Crawl®, attracting nearly 10,000 local music lovers for marathon evenings at more than a dozen downtown nightclubs.
