Boise Weekly, Idaho’s only alternative newsweekly, announces the launch of its news and entertainment iPhone application.
“We have worked very hard over the last four years to move Boise Weekly forward in the digital age to ensure that our readers can access our content wherever they are and in whatever manner suits their needs best,” said Boise Weekly Publisher Sally Freeman.
The BW application is free for iPhone users. The app, built by Pre1 Software, offers users access to all of Boise Weekly’s online content, including feature and news stories, as well as blog content that’s updated daily. The app also offers extensive entertainment coverage, including previews of upcoming concerts, movie listings, restaurant reviews and suggestions, plus when and where to find everything users want to do. Boise Weekly’s events database can be accessed from the app either chronologically or based on geo-location technology. Users also have access to movie times, nearby restaurants and a real-time map of all the events happening near them.
The BW iPhone app is Boise Weekly’s second iPhone app. In 2009, Boise Weekly launched Cocktail Compass, a comprehensive digital happy hour guide based on geo-location. In addition, Boise Weekly hosts a mobile platform for other smart phone users and regularly integrates digital technology into print through the use of devices like QR codes.
