Thirty-seven AAN member publications completed the survey, sharing information on staff demographics, readership, and diversity in coverage.

AAN President Sally Freeman has appointed Charleston City Paper advertising director Blair Barna as Vice President of the Board of Directors. Miami New Times editor Chuck Strouse will replace Barna as Secretary.

AAN is accepting applications for both regular and affiliate members. The deadline to apply is May 1.
The 2015 AAN Awards submission deadline is February 19. The two Wild Card topics are Environmental Reporting and LGBT/Gender Equality Coverage. The AAN Awards will for the first time include four $500 cash prizes.
On Thursday, December 4, AAN attorney Kevin Goldberg will answer member questions on legal topics, including free speech and copyright issues.
The AAN Awards will for the first time include a $500 investigative prize and $500 prize for the best coverage of gender issues. The prizes will be funded by alt-weekly veterans Mike Lacey and Fran Zankowski.
Little Village, Motif Magazine, and Wisconsin Gazette are voted in as new members. Salt Lake City is chosen as the site of the 2015 Annual Convention.
AAN members will also vote on the membership applications of five publications. The AAN annual meeting takes place at 2 p.m. on July 12 and is open for all members to attend.
