PRESS RELEASE
On August 16, 2007 Southland Publishing’s Los Angeles CityBeat newsweekly will publish it’s Sunset Junction issue, an annual homage to what has become LA’s largest and most notable summer festival. In addition to award-winning editorial coverage the center section of the paper will serve as a festival guide — replete with maps and entertainment information. Additionally at the event itself CityBeat will be hosting a promotional booth presented by Virgin Megastore at which band members from Sea Wolf, Blonde Redhead, The Aggrolites, Cheb I Sabbah, Hot Hot Heat and Buzzcocks will meet and greet fans and sign autographs.
The August 16th edition of CityBeat also marks a significant change in marketing direction for the four-year-old weekly. With that issue the 30,000 copies of the paper distributed in the San Fernando Valley will no longer bear the title ValleyBeat but will carry the name CityBeat — Valley Edition. Additionally the marketing team of CityBeat debuts, on limited edition t-shirts and other promotional items a new marketing tag line: “Local. Independent. Committed.”
CityBeat is available every Thursday at over 2,000 distribution locations throughout the Los Angeles market with select distribution in Long Beach, Orange County & the Inland Empire. CityBeat has an audited circulation of 100,000 and is a member of the Alternative Weekly Network and was a unanimous recommendation for membership in the prestigious Association of Alternative Newsweeklies. Additionally lacitybeat.com is the online home of the weekly newspaper hosting up to 10,000 unique visitors a day.
