Seattle, WA – June 18, 2003 – Knute “Skip” Berger, Editor-in-Chief of Seattle Weekly, today announced the appointment of Michelangelo Matos as Music Editor. He will be reporting to the Weekly’s Arts & Culture editor, Mark. D. Fefer.
Matos is returning to Seattle Weekly, where he had previously served as Music Calendar Editor between 1999 and 2001. Since leaving the paper, Matos has been living in New York City and writing for the Village Voice and Rolling Stone among other publications.
His freelance work has also appeared in Time Out New York, Spin, Yahoo! Internet Life, Baltimore City Paper, Nerve.com, Stereo-Type, Grammy Magazine, CMJ New Music Monthly, Request, Nylon, Chicago Reader, City Pages, and Creative Loafing Atlanta.
Commenting on the appointment, Mark D. Fefer, the Weekly’s Arts & Culture Editor said, “Michaelangelo is a great addition to our paper, he is smart, passionate about music, and a gifted writer. We are looking forward to working with him to continue to strengthen our excellent music section.”
Matos is a Minneapolis native who began his freelance career writing for the Minneapolis City Pages. He now resides in the Belltown district of Seattle.
