Three alt-weekly reporters are heading to Washington, D.C. this weekend to participate in a McCormick Specialized Reporting Institute on investigating super PACs.

Dave Maass of San Diego CityBeat, R.L. Nave of the Jackson Free Press, and Alex Sakariassen of the Missoula Independent are among the 31 successful applicants that were selected to attend the two-day workshop.

The training is hosted by the Sunlight Foundation with funding provided by the McCormick Foundation and Poynter Institute.
