The Reel Terror Film Fest Returns to Ybor City

Be Afraid … Again

On Saturday, October 22, prepare to have your soiled pants scared right off when Creative Loafing Presents: Reel Terror 2011. A one-day film festival celebrating the local horror scene and the many brave souls who risk life and financial ruin in pursuit of their dreams, Reel Terror will include panel discussions with area filmmakers, celebrity appearances, screenings of scary movies shot all over the Bay area and the state, an awards ceremony and much more.

Appearing This Year: Dimitri Coats (Suck, Burning Brides, OFF!); Brooke McCarter (The Lost Boys, Thrashin’); Scream Queen Julie Anne; Herschell Gordon Lewis’ The Uh Oh Show.

Herschell Gordon Lewis’ The Uh-Oh Show – The Uh! Oh! Show a game show where the contestants can win lots of money by answering trivia questions, but for every wrong answer the contestant loses a limb. The film is the newest of Herschell Gordon Lewis, known for titles such as: Blood Feast , Blood Feast 2 and 2000 Maniacs (1964).

Beware – Shady Grove holds many dark secrets, including the sadistic tale of Shane, a boy who was tortured and chained to a tree. Shane survived in the woods for years before escaping and encountering a group of unsuspecting teens on an ill-fated trip.

Bloody English – A young British couple is out to dinner while a psycho is breaking into their summer home. An evening to remember turns grim when the couple returns home and come face to face with the intruder.

Demonic Activity – After a theater security guard finds a man burned to death, video cameras are installed to try and find the cause of the fire.

Dickhead – After a one night stand, Adam contracts what he thinks is a simple STD but quickly evolves into something far more horrifying.

Extraction – Plagued by an ailing tooth, a man is forced to take extreme measures in order to end his suffering.

Just Us – A woman captures the man responsible for the rape and murder of 11 women including her sister after he’s released from jail on a technicality.

Nancy – When forced to confront the demons of her past, troubled young Nancy undergoes a horrific and mind-altering journey through the shadowy depths of her subconscious.

No More Room In Hell – Friends are forced to make difficult choices as a zombie apocalypse rages outside.

Pure Evil – A preacher builds a machine to suck the evil out of himself. But where do you keep that evil once it’s loose?

Round Six – What if death was knocking at your door and you had no escape?

Seeing Red – The latest film from Dark Harvest Productions, Seeing Red follows a serial rapist as he stalks his latest potential victim from a liquor store to her upscale home. Little does he know, the tables are about to be turned on him in terrifying fashion.

Sweet, Sweet Death – A young trick-or-treater finally gets revenge on her tormentor after years of abuse.

Taphouse – A young girl heading to the beach for a weekend with friends has car trouble on one of Florida’s remotes state roads. Stumbling upon an isolated tavern, she soon realizes that the stuff they serve on tap is to die for.

White Lie – Frank (Joel D. Wynkoop) is hiding an illicit love affair from his wife when he and his lover are carjacked. Is it a random attack or something more?
