AAN Names 2012 Diversity Scholarship Recipients

Twelve alt-weekly staffers and contributors have been selected to receive Diversity Scholarships to attend the Assocition of Alternative Newsmedia Annual Convention in Detroit next month.

The scholarships provide up to $500 towards travel and lodging, and the recipients will have their conference registration fee waived.

“We were thrilled by the quality of the applications we received,” said AAN executive director Tiffany Shackelford. “These twelve individuals have great enthusiasm and will get the most out of everything the AAN convention has to offer. I can’t wait to meet them in Detroit and I hope their exuberance rubs off on all of us.”

The recipients of the AAN Next Generation Student Fund will be announced tomorrow, and the AAN Next Generation Professional fund recipients will be announced later this week.
