Former New Times Los Angeles Publisher takes helm of 17 year old weekly.
Charles Gerencser was named publisher of the Pasadena Weekly on Thursday, August 23, said David Comden, Group Publisher for Ventura Newspapers, Inc. Charles’ background includes a two and a half year stint as Publisher of New Times Los Angeles and a one and a half years as marketing director of the Los Angeles View. He most recently served as Vice President of National Sales for NuSign Industries.
“We are excited to have Charles on board to lead our efforts in the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley market. A person of his skill and experience will help us build a great newspaper,” said Comden.
“It is going to be great working for such a passionate operator as David. You can expect great things from this newspaper in the very near future,” said Gerencser.
Ventura Newspaper, Inc. is the parent company of the Ventura County Reporter and the Pasadena Weekly. The Reporter is a 25 year old publication that was admitted into AAN in 2000. It serves a market of 750,000 between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, California.
The Pasadena Weekly is a 17 year old publication that was admitted into AAN earlier this year. It serves a population of about 450,000 in a region ten miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
