In an effort to teach photography to street children in Haiti, Charleston City Paper web editor Joshua Curry is raising money via the website IndieGoGo.
“Most of the time, what we read about Haiti is outside reporters and photographers saying, ‘This is what Haiti is like,'” Curry said.
He says that photography will give Haitian children “a sense of ownership of their own story.”
Curry is trying to raise $3,100 to cover travel expenses and pay for three local children to attend a photography camp run by aid organization Zanmi Lakay.
