L.A. Weekly Wins Big At City Press Club Awards

L.A. Weekly took home several L.A. Press Club Awards for its editorial, design and social media work.

Reporter Patrick Range McDonald was named journalist of the year and commended for his “ability to make us feel as if we know the players” and “skill in explaining messy
situations.” He also took first-place in the news feature category.

The paper also took first in personality profile, entertainment reviews/criticism, and tied with the Los Angeles Times in sports. The club also recognized the paper as having the best Facebook presence by a news organization. The paper took second-place for investigative series, business, editorial cartoon, design, and overall website.

Other alts to win were OC Weekly, which won two awards, first-place in design and a second-place in entertainment news/feature; and Pasadena Weekly, which took first-place in entertainment news/feature and second-place in investigative series for its division.
