Dawson Fercho, former director of e-business for Seventhwave Technology Corporation, has been named publisher of PitchWeekly, Kansas City’s award-winning newsweekly. Fercho, who has also worked as a branch sales manager for MCI and as a senior district manager for Qwest, takes the helm at the Pitch on Monday, June 24.
Fercho brings strong sales experience and an intimate understanding of the Kansas City market to the job, according to Scott Tobias, group publisher for New Times Newspapers, which owns the Pitch. “I’m really looking forward to plugging Dawson into the Pitch,” said Tobias. “I’m excited about his energy and I’m excited about his local knowledge.”
A 31-year-old Kansas City native, Fercho will lead a senior management team that includes sales director Stephanie Ross and classified advertising director John Carter.
With a weekly metro-area circulation of 80,000, PitchWeekly is Kansas City’s leading source for investigative reporting, magazine-style feature writing, and comprehensive coverage of music, restaurants and the arts.
In addition to the Pitch, New Times Newspapers owns and operates weeklies in Phoenix, Denver, Miami, San Francisco, Oakland/Berkeley, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, St. Louis, Cleveland, and Broward/Palm Beach, Florida. The company also owns the Ruxton Group, which sells national advertising for 28 weeklies in major metropolitan markets.
