Timothy Bolger, Katrina Longworth, Terrence McCoy, and Patrick Michels are finalists for the Livingston Awards for Young Journalists.
The awards honor journalists under the age of 35 and come with a $10,000 cash prize.
Karina Longworth’s L.A. Weekly feature story “Video Paradiso” is competing in the International Reporting category. An Amazon Kindle Single by New Times Broward-Palm Beach writer Terrence McCoy, “The Playground,” is also a finalist in that category.
In the Local Reporting category, Long Island Press news editor Timothy Bolger is a finalist for his investigation on suicides in Nassau County jails and Texas Observer reporter Patrick Michels is nominated for his story on the lack of regulation in the armored car industry.
Winners will be announced June 6 at a luncheon in New York.
Update: Also nominated in the local reporting category is Graham Hillard, whose feature story “A Killing in Cordova” appeared in Memphis Magazine, a sister publication of The Memphis Flyer.
