Howard University junior Ryan Fox is summer intern
Ryan Justin Fox, a junior print journalism major and education minor at Howard University in D.C., has joined AAN as a summer editorial intern.
Fox is a member of Howard’s chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists where he is the online editor of its Web site (huabj.org). He is the Public Relations Director of Howard’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
“We are delighted to have Ryan join us this summer,” says Communications Director Lyda Phillips. “He is a talented young journalist who I expect will go far in this profession.”
Fox will be involved in writing and editing copy for both AAN News and the AAN Web site, as well as in the Alternative Newsweekly Awards and other association projects.
Ryan was hired as the Neighborhood Editor of District Chronicles, one of the student-run weekly newspapers on Howard’s campus.
Ryan has held internships at The Baltimore Sun and the Gazette newspaper company in Prince Georges County, Md. For the past two summers he has worked as a counselor at Howard’s Youth Journalism Academy where he helps aspiring high school journalists develop their journalistic skills.
His immediate goal is to survive college and start his own alternative newsweekly before he is 30.
