Kera Abraham of Monterey County Weekly picked up first place in the Society of Environmental Journalists’ annual Awards for Reporting on the Environment. Her entry, “Green vs. Green: Environmentalists Duke It Out,” led all contenders in the Small Market Print Reporting division. The SEJ says that Abraham’s entry “offered an unusually sophisticated and thought-provoking examination of what it means to be green.” Competing in the same division, Chris Vogel of Houston Press took second place for his entry “A Quiet Hell.”
