Seattle Weekly Takes General Excellence Award
Five AAN publications picked up Northwest Excellence in Journalism awards from the Society of Professional Journalists over the weekend.
Seattle Weekly picked up fifteen total awards on the night, with first place nods for Health Reporting, Personalities Reporting, Page Design, Portrait Photography, Graphics and Illustrations, as well as the coveted General Excellence award.
Pacific Northwest Inlander (Spokane, Wash.) won eleven awards, three for first place: Arts Reporting, Crime and Justice Reporting, and Photography.
Portland’s Willamette Week also received eleven honors, taking first place in the Investigative Reporting, Government and Political Reporting, and Education Reporting categories.
Eugene Weekly picked up four awards, taking top honors for Environment and Science Reporting, Lifestyles
Reporting, and Social Issues Reporting.
The Missoula Independent received two first place awards, winning in the Business Reporting and Sports Reporting categories.
The regional contest covers five states and includes a separate alt-weekly division.
