Nothing too drastic, though
SPOKANE—The Local Planet has changed their name, slightly, by adding the word “Weekly.” The paper’s now known as The Local Planet Weekly.
“There’s The Weekly Planet and Planet Weekly, so we were feeling naked without the word ‘Weekly,’” joked president and co-publisher Matthew Spaur. “Really, Sam Taylor, publisher of Folio Weekly, suggested at the AAN convention that we add ‘Weekly’ to our name. It helps people understand who we are. He said it would add $100,000 to our value. I’m still waiting for the check.”
With the name change comes a new masthead that incorporates the paper’s motto “A better newspaper, a better planet.” The company website, www.thelocalplanet.com, remains unchanged.
