“This Modern World” creator Dan Perkins, a.k.a. Tom Tomorrow, has been named as the winner of the 2013 Herblock Prize for editorial cartooning. The award comes with a a $15,000 after-tax cash prize.

Perkins said to the Washington Post: “It’s an overwhelming honor and I’m immensely grateful for it — and very pleased that the genre of alt-weekly cartoons is increasingly being recognized.”

The award will be presented during a ceremony at the Library of Congress on April 25.
