AAN is offering a limited number of diversity scholarships to encourage the next generation of journalists and journalism managers to attend the Annual Convention in Salt Lake City, July 16 – 18.
Scholarship recipients will have their registration fee waived and will receive a stipend to help cover travel costs.
The diversity scholarships are intended for AAN-publication staffers who would not be able to go the convention without the scholarship. Priority will be given to individuals who have never attended an AAN conference.
“The diversity scholarships have brought so many new faces to our conferences over the past few years,” said AAN President and Boise Weekly publisher Sally Freeman. “These bright and passionate individuals are the future of our industry and it’s essential for AAN to invest in their professional development.”
Each applicant should send a letter explaining your motivation for attending the conference and what you hope to gain from the experience. Applications must be submitted via email to scholarships[at]aan.org by June 10, 2015.
Grantees will write one blog post for publication on the AAN website within 30 days of attending. During the convention, grantees will be invited to meet with long-time AAN members/leaders.
Questions about the diversity scholarship program or application process can be sent to Jason Zaragoza at jason[at]aan.org.
