Little Rock, Ark. — October 14, 2004 — Today the Arkansas Times launched a re-designed Web site at its consistent address: www.arktimes.com.
The newly formatted site is a dramatic improvement from the previous site, which was inaugurated in 1996. Besides the new look, the site is different in some fundamental ways.
Now all of the content from the print edition is online. Also, the Arkansas Times has started a new blog called “Arkansas Daily Blog,” which is accessible from the homepage. It includes news and interesting items updated several times a day, and is the only blog of its kind in Arkansas.
Arktimes.com also becomes the only place in Central Arkansas where you can find complete entertainment, dining, and movie listings searchable and sortable by category. It will help readers decide what to do and where to go, serving the same function as sites like TimeOut.com in larger metropolitan areas.
The Arkansas Times is a weekly alternative newspaper headquartered in Little Rock. It occupies an important position in the state’s media, because Arkansas only has one statewide daily newspaper. With the new Web presence, the Arkansas Times can more effectively serve as a necessary alternative news source in Arkansas.
The new website was designed by Softwyre (www.softwyre.com) of Maumelle, Ark.
