Baltimore City Paper Publisher Don Farley To Depart

It’s with great pleasure that we inform you that Don Farley, group publisher of our Alternative Newsweekly Division and publisher of Baltimore City Paper will assume the new role of regional general manager of The Times-Tribune, Citizens’ Voice and Standard-Speaker. Don will move to Northeast Pennsylvania on September 1st in preparation for his new role. He will assume the title of regional general manager upon the retirement of Jim Towner, general manager of the Times-Tribune, in early 2012.

In his new role, Don will be in charge of day-to-day operations of our Lackawanna and Luzerne County newspapers. His primary task is to ensure that these papers take advantage of all of their synergies and become even stronger local and regional news and advertising sources.

Don started his career with Times-Shamrock Communications as an ad rep at the Towanda Daily Review in Towanda, Pa. in May of 1983. He then took the job of general manager of The Pocono Shopper and moved on to run The Times-Shamrock Weekly Group. In December 1988 Don moved to Baltimore and assumed the role of publisher.

When Times Shamrock bought AMI in February 1999, Don took on the role of Group Publisher over Detroit, Orlando and San Antonio. Cleveland was added to his responsibility in June 2008.

Don has been a tremendous asset for our organization and has become a leader in the alternative newsweekly industry. We will miss him in our Alternative Division but wish him well as he accepts this new role within Times-Shamrock Communications.
