CLEVELAND, OH — James Renner, a staff writer for the Cleveland alt-weekly Free Times, has written a book about the unsolved murder of 10-year-old Amy Mihaljevic. Amy was abducted from the affluent Cleveland suburb of Bay Village in 1989. The abduction took place in broad daylight, directly across the street from Bay Village police headquarters. Her body was discovered four months later in a wheat field south of Akron, Ohio. No one has ever been charged with the crime.

While his book is primarily an investigation into the Amy Mihaljevic case, Renner also gives readers a behind-the-curtain view of the editorial process of writing a feature article about the case for Cleveland Scene magazine, where Renner worked before moving to the Free Times in 2005.

Amy: My Search for Her Killer (hardcover, 272 pages, $24.95) is published by Gray & Company. It is available in Northeast Ohio bookstores and online from Amazon.com.

An excerpt from the book was published in this week’s Free Times and on the Website www.freetimes.com
