Cleveland Scene Fires Editor, Will Emphasize Music Coverage

Two-year Cleveland Scene editor Erich Burnett has been let go, reports the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

“We need to go back to our roots,” said Publisher Chris Keating, noting that Scene was founded as music publication. It later became a respected and award-winning alternative paper. It was merged in 2008 with another weekly, the Cleveland Free Times.

“Music is always first. Music, food and calendar,” said Keating. “And arts. But music will always be first.”

As for Burnett? “We just needed a completely fresh perspective,” said Keating.
