Former Seattle Weekly Editor Wins Bert Greene Award

Mike Seely has won a Bert Greene Award in the Writing About Beverages category for his 2012 Seattle Weekly cover story, “Murray Stenson’s Accidental Tourists.”

Seely tied for first-place with Kara Newman of inspirato.com. The result was announced as part of the annual International Association of Culinary Professionals Food Writing Awards on Monday evening.

Seattle Weekly checked in with its former editor-in-chief on his achievement:

How did he react upon hearing the good news? “I was upset that I only had beer on hand. My wife was out of town on business and I couldn’t leave the house with a sleeping toddler. Seattle really needs a bourbon delivery service.”
