LAS VEGAS — Scott Dickensheets, longtime editor of the Las Vegas Weekly in Las Vegas, has joined the staff of Las Vegas CityLife as special projects editor.
Dickensheets, 45, will oversee features, cover presentation and special projects at CityLife, the oldest and most widely read alternative weekly in Las Vegas. (CityLife is owned by Stephens Media LLC, which also owns the Las Vegas Review-Journal and newspapers in eight states.)
Before coming to CityLife, Dickensheets worked at the Las Vegas Sun from 1992 to 1999 as an assistant city editor, assistant features editor, feature writer and columnist. In 1999, he joined Las Vegas Life magazine as a staff writer. He was appointed managing editor of Las Vegas Life in 2001. At the end of 2002, he was appointing managing editor of Las Vegas Weekly, and eventually rose to editor-in-chief.
(The Las Vegas Sun, Las Vegas Life and Las Vegas Weekly are all owned by the Greenspun family of Las Vegas.)
Dickensheets has also freelanced for national magazines, including Esquire, Playboy and Los Angeles Magazine.
“I look forward to helping CityLife open up its passing game,” Dickensheets said. “This is a terrific opportunity with a great team of journalists and storytellers.”
“We’re thrilled to have someone of Scott’s tremendous talent and vision at our paper,” said CityLife editor Steve Sebelius. “I think with his help CityLife is only going to get better.”
