New Mass Media Launches Monthly Arts Magazine

For Immediate Release

It’s here! The premiere issue of Preview Connecticut, a monthly glossy magazine devoted solely to the arts. The magazine, which will appear the first week of each month and is free, will be published by New Mass Media, Inc. NMM, Inc., already publishes a chain of alternative news and arts weeklies — the Hartford Advocate, the New Haven Advocate and the Fairfield County Weekly in Connecticut and the Valley Advocate in western Massachusetts — as well as playbills for a variety of arts organizations throughout Connecticut and western Massachusetts.

“The time has come to act on an idea we’ve been kicking around for a couple of years now,” says CEO Francis Zankowski of the decision to launch the new publication. “The arts have never been more important in our lives and Connecticut’s vibrant arts community proves that people are interested in learning more about the arts.”

The magazine’s thrust is told in its title. It will preview, rather than review, and help those already interested in the arts to learn more about their favorite organizations as well as groups they may know little about. A six-week calendar will make planning various events easy and will be the centerpiece of the magazine.

Preview Connecticut will be available at various Hartford area arts organizations, hotels and chambers of commerce. In 2003, Preview is expected to be distributed statewide.
