Pre1 Software Hits The 50 Mark

Portland, OR – January 11, 2006 – First launched in 1999, Pre1’s SmartPublisher is now in use at 50 AAN member newspapers spanning six time zones, 29 states and two countries — from Hawaii through Nova Scotia.

SmartPublisher was originally written as a Contact Management, Classifieds and Accounts Receivable system for alternative newsweeklies. Features and options were added over six years to meet needs throughout the papers.

From the start of the sales process to the time of print and web publishing, SmartPublisher offers tools to manage and automate the process. SmartPublisher also offers unmatched integration and automation with multiple web classified solutions including Google Base.

Matt Astbury, Operations Manager of Shepherd Express, commented, “We’re proud to be the 50th customer. It’s simply the best software out there in terms of CRM, sales management, and accounting for the publishing industry. And their support is miles ahead of any other software company I’ve worked with. If you sell print and web advertising, you should be using SmartPublisher.”

The software was designed to increase Classified and Display sales while saving time and money for multiple departments. “Having worked at two AAN member papers, I understand the needs,” said Jim Abeles, Pre1 Software’s president. “The software has to be cross-platform, easy to use but rich in features. And it has to be competitively priced. I think our continued growth within AAN and other publishing markets is evidence that we’re meeting and exceeding those needs.”
