Scene Writer Moving to Knoxville’s Metro Pulse

Mayshark moving to New York

Bill Carey, a contributor to the Nashville Scene, will be moving to Knoxville this September to become editor of Metro Pulse.

He will replace current Editor Jesse Mayshark, who is moving to New York.

“I’ve been editor for two years and I really want to go back to writing and reporting,” Mayshark says. “I just made a commitment to be editor for two years.”

Mayshark is getting married this summer, and his fiancee has a job in New York.

Metro Pulse also has a new managing editor, Scott McNutt, who has been the alt-weekly’s monthly humor columnist. McNutt started his new job in March.

Carey has been a reporter at The Tennessean, the National Public Radio affiliate WPLN-FM 90.3 and was co-founder of NashvillePost.com, an online business and political news site.

Carey is the author of Fortunes, Fiddles & Fried Chicken: A Business History of Nashville. He is working on a second book on the history of Vanderbilt University.
