Local Arts and Entertainment Weeklies offer promotional opportunity to arts community
San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria, CA – In an effort to help local artists, musicians and arts organizations, the New Times and Santa Maria Sun have launched their online Local Artists Galleries and Local Music Galleries on their websites. The online galleries enable artists, musicians and performance venues to create their own webpages to promote their craft, list upcoming shows and help to get their name out. And it’s all free.

“For 20 years, we’ve tried to think of innovative ways to promote arts and entertainment in our area,” says General Manager and New Times/Santa Maria Sun co-owner Bob Rucker. “This was an idea that we figured would help a lot of local artists promote themselves who either don’t have the resources to create their own webpage or who want another way to direct people to their websites.” The free webpage consists of a one-page profile, including the artist’s or band’s biography, visual or auditory samples of their work, and links to email or other websites. “Artists and musicians are welcomed to create webpages on both the New Times and Sun websites,” Rucker added.

To create a profile webpage, log onto www.newtimesslo.com or www.santamariasun.com and click on “Arts & Events.” Listed under both the Arts and Music tabs are the galleries and the individual profiles can be updated as often as desired.

New Times has been San Luis Obispo County’s news and entertainment paper for 20 years. With a circulation of 40,000 issues weekly, it is the largest locally owned paper in the region. The Santa Maria Sun was started in 2000 to serve Northern Santa Barbara County and currently has a circulation of 20,000 issues weekly.
