A play inspired by a love for Japanese movies, Japanoir tells two intertwining and contrasting stories of love, money, suspicion and betrayal, intercut with a Western interviewer’s attempts to understand a great Japanese director’s reflections on his art. A complex and provocative play about film and the search for the essence of creativity.

Program C includes new plays by Frank Gilroy & Jose Rivera; the other bills include work by Neil LaBute and David Auburn.

The Ensemble Studio Theatre’s One-Act Marathon is annual event-this marks their 30th year. Many writers have premiered their work there including David Mamet and Tennesee Williams.
