Willamette Week Announces Publisher Change

Portland’s Willamette Week announced today that Richard Meeker will hand over the publisher role to his business partner Mark Zusman, who is also the paper’s editor. Meeker has served as publisher for 32 years.

Going forward, Meeker, 66, will supervise the company’s operations at The Reporter in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and INDY Week in the Raleigh-Durham Triangle of North Carolina. He will still lead the paper’s annual Give!Guide effort, as well as shepherd the magazines published by City of Roses Newspaper Company.

As publisher, Zusman will oversee Willamette Week’s business side and will continue to lead WW’s journalism.

“Mark and I enjoy our work immensely and have tremendous energy for it,” Meeker says. “This new arrangement will allow both of us to devote the time and attention needed for our expanding enterprises in three far-flung parts of the country.”
