After running for just one week, Dan Savage’s sex-advice column ‘Savage Love’ is being pulled from a Fayetteville, Ark. weekly publication called The Free Weekly (TFW).

The paper’s new editor had been trying to transform it into “more of an alternative newspaper,” according to Arkansas Business. But at least one local advertiser was not pleased by the shift:

Dennis Nelms is owner of Adventure Subaru in Fayetteville, which had a full-page color ad on the back cover of TFW. Nelms said he had received phone calls from a couple of people about the incident. He said the newspaper promised him that “Savage Love” would not appear again.

The article matter-of-factly notes that Savage’s column consists of “explicit advice on anal and lesbian sex, masturbation and pornography.” Which may have been reason enough for TFW‘s publishers to pull the column, but it probably didn’t help that the headline for that week was: To Finger or Not To Finger.
