Las Vegas CityLife editor Scott Dickensheets is leaving to become the deputy editor of the Desert Companion, a monthly magazine covering the Vegas area. His last day with CityLife will be September 20.
“It’s a terrific opportunity for me, but also a very sad moment,” said Dickensheets. “I love the alt-weekly biz. Done right, it’s the best arena for really good, magazine-style writing, with an edge, to engage with consequential topics, as they’re unfolding, for an audience impacted by them. So I’m bummed about leaving that behind.”
Dickensheets previously served two stints as editor of the crosstown Las Vegas Weekly. He has been on AAN’s Editorial Committee since 2008, and served on the Board of Directors until June of this year.
CityLife — which is owned by the Vegas-based Stephens Media — has not yet named a replacement.
