Workshops Designed for Sales Reps to be Held in SF, Chapel Hill, Chicago and Hartford.
AAN has hired professional speaker Bob Treadway to present a series of regional sales training seminars that will be held early next year. The two-day seminars will be designed to meet the professional needs of rank-and-file display sales reps.
The first seminar will be held on Jan. 28-29 in San Francisco as part of the Y2K AAN West conference. The other seminars will be in Chapel Hill, NC (March 24-25); Hartford, Conn. (April 7-8); and Chicago (April 14-15). Each program will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday and conclude the following day. (All times and dates are tentative.)
Tuition for the stand-alone seminars is $150 for AAN members, and $250 for non-members. AAN West 2000 registration fees are $150 for the first attendee from each AAN member paper, and $75 for each additional attendee; non-member rates are $250 and $125.
The seminars were conceived as a result of this year’s long-range planning process. In the member needs assessment survey that was conducted as part of that process, AAN publishers clearly indicated that sales training was their highest priority.
This summer, an ad hoc committee developed a Request For Proposal that was distributed to several prospective sales training specialists. The committee members were Linda Baldwin, Isthmus ; Phyllis Britton, Arkansas Times ; Judy Jablonski, LA Weekly ; Russ Martineau, Willamette Week ; and Jessica Stern, Independent Weekly.
After reviewing all of the bids that were submitted in response to the RFP, the committee selected Treadway’s proposal. Treadway has been a top-rated presenter at a number of AAN conventions and conferences.
“Bob’s proposal was the most thorough,” said Ad Chair Phyllis Britton. “In addition, he has a developed an excellent track record with AAN for providing high-quality, substantive presentations.”
Registration materials for the seminar series, including a detailed description of the program, will be mailed to AAN members in November.
