Former Fort Worth Weekly staff writer Betty Brink has passed away at the age of 80.
Brink won several AAN awards over the years, including first-place awards for Corrections Reporting (2000) and Short-Form News Story (2005). In a 2005 interview with AAN, Brink discussed the importance of the “human element” in journalism and her focus on stories “that pay attention to someone who would otherwise be lost in the greater scheme of things.”
Reporter Jeff Prince says Brink “personified Fort Worth Weekly‘s willingness to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted.”
