Las Vegas CityLife Editor Scott Dickensheets Takes Over as AAN Editorial Chair

Las Vegas CityLife editor Scott Dickensheets has been named as AAN Editorial Chair. In that role, he will lead AAN’s Editorial Committee, which oversees the annual AltWeekly Awards, the editorial programming for AAN conferences, and the organization’s various story-sharing projects.

Dickensheets replaces Rachael Daigle, who resigned as editor of Boise Weekly in October. He will serve the remainder of Daigle’s term, which ends July 2013.

“We’re pleased that someone with Scott’s dedication and experience is stepping up to be our new Editorial Chair,” said AAN President and Colorado Springs Independent CEO Fran Zankowski. “His years of service on the Editorial Committee have prepared him for this job.”

Dickensheets was previously the editor of the crosstown Las Vegas Weekly. He has served as a member of the AAN Editorial Committee since 2008.

“After a decade in the alt-weekly niche, I’m more convinced than ever that it’s the best venue in which to pursue meaningful, community-focused journalism, have fun and rattle some cages,” said Dickensheets. “So I’m thrilled to assume this role and do my utmost to continue the great work the Editorial Committee has always done in helping member papers achieve those goals.”
