Seattle Weekly Names Lynn Jacobson Deputy Managing Editor for Arts and Culture

Seattle, WA – March 2, 2005 – Chuck Taylor, managing editor of Seattle Weekly, today announced the appointment of Lynn Jacobson as deputy managing editor for arts and culture, effective April 4.

Jacobson will oversee coverage of food and dining, music, theater, visual art, and film. She comes to Seattle Weekly from The Seattle Times, where she was assistant arts and entertainment editor for five years. Prior to her Seattle Times position, Jacobson was the editor-in-chief of MetropolitanLiving in Seattle, and from 1992-1999 she was managing editor of mirror, a Seattle Times-owned monthly youth publication. Under her editorial guidance, mirror was the recipient of multiple journalism awards.

Jacobson began her journalism career in 1989 as the assistant editor for American Theatre magazine, after touring nationally and internationally as a dancer with the Pat Graney Company and teaching modern dance at Dance Center Seattle and the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.

Her freelance work has appeared in Stagebill, Variety and the New York Press.

Jacobson holds an M.A. in Performance Studies from New York University and a B.A. in Communications from the University of Washington. She resides in Seattle with her husband and two children.
