The founder and former publisher of Madison's Isthmus was inducted to the Milwaukee Media Hall of Fame on October 24.
Veteran publisher Vince O'Hern has sold Isthmus Publishing Co. to Jeff Haupt, Craig Bartlett and Mark Tauscher. O'Hern and his wife/associate publisher, Linda Baldwin, will retire from the media company.
Madison's alt-weekly was honored in five categories in this year's Milwaukee Press Club Contest for Excellence in Journalism.

The board members of Dane Buy Local, a coalition of local independent businesses, organizations and citizens in and around Dane County, Wisc., have selected Isthmus advertising manager Colin Murray as the organization's new Board Chair. The group, which includes more than 425 members, provides support and promotion for locally owned businesses.
Isthmus news editor Bill Lueders has received a Genesis Award from the Humane Society of the United States for his reporting on animal issues. Lueders was honored for his reporting on animal research at the UW-Madison, including his story about a 5-year-old primate named ro4040 and his articles on decompression experiments involving sheep. "It was a great honor for me and for Isthmus," says Lueders, whose article on primate research was excerpted in the award booklet for the star-studded ceremony in Beverly Hills.
