The Village Voice Names Martin Jorgensen Vice President and General Manager

NEW YORK, N.Y. – June 17, 2003- The Village Voice, the nation’s largest alternative weekly newspaper, today announced the promotion of Martin Jorgensen to the position of Vice President & General Manager of the Village Voice.

Jorgensen began his career at the Village Voice in November 2002 as Controller, where he was responsible for the company’s overall financial functions, including strategic planning and budgeting processes, credit and collections, as well as the company’s accounting and tax matters.

In his new position as Vice President & General Manager, Jorgensen will be responsible for all of his previous duties as well as the management of the I.S. and Production departments.

Commenting on Jorgensen’s promotion, Village Voice Publisher Judy Miszner said, “Marty is a valuable addition to our business, and his extensive experience in finance and operations and his proven leadership skills will continue to strengthen our financial performance.”

Jorgensen came to the Voice with more than twelve years of planning, reporting and operations experience at the New York Times Company, where he was Group Controller for the Boston Globe. Prior to his career with the New York Times Company, Jorgensen was the Director of Budgeting for American Express Bank in New York. He began his career at Ernst and Young LLP serving as a Senior Auditor.

Jorgensen is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a CPA in the state of New York. He holds a Bachelor of Science from St. John’s University in New York and is married with two children.
